Let us begin with understanding the IBM WatsonX plugin and how it benefits our workload automation users.
The IBM WatsonX plug-in enables users to receive a model-generated message from the IBM WatsonX assistant by submitting a message using IBM WatsonX’s chat completion capability.
The plugin allows users to submit a job in order to receive a model-generated message from the IBM WatsonX assistant directly from the DWC.
Download the IBM WatsonX plugin from Automation Hub to enhance your Workload Automation setup.

Perform IBM WatsonX plugin with Workload Automation

Log in to the Dynamic Workload Console and open the Workload Designer. Choose to create a new job and select “IBM WatsonX” job type in the Other section.

Action:
In the Action tab you must enter all information required both for carrying out a test connection, which is usually advised to be done, and for executing the plug-in:
  • IBM WatsonX Api Key: the API key that you can generate on your IBM WatsonX personal profile.
  • Project ID or Space ID: Project or Space that contains the resource.
  • Region: Associated geographic area.
  • Model: the model used to generate the output message.
  • User message: the message you want to send to the assistant.

There are also three non-required fields:
  • Username: it is linked to the IBM WatsonX API key field so that, if necessary, you can create a User object inside your environment, choosing as password the IBM WatsonX API key, and then you can insert the name of the just created User in the username field, and finally choose the User option for the IBM WatsonX Api key field.
  • Temperature: The temperature field is optional. A value used to modify the next-token probabilities in sampling mode.
  • Max new tokens: The max new tokens field is optional. The maximum number of new tokens to be generated. The maximum supported value for this field depends on the model being used.

It is time to Submit your job to the current plan. You can add your job to the job stream that automates your business process flow. Select the action menu in the top-left corner of the job definition panel and click on Submit Job into Current Plan. A confirmation message is displayed, and you can switch to the Monitoring view to see what is going on.
