Greater business agility with workflow folders

Enable business-oriented triggering and monitoring of activities related to jobs and job streams. You can categorize your jobs and job streams into a hierarchy of folders according to a specific line of business, department, geography or other category that makes sense for your business. Organizing jobs and job streams in folders makes it easy to manage user or group access at the folder level. Monitoring jobs or job streams defined in folders means you don't need to rely on complicated and restrictive naming conventions. This feature is now also available in the Workload Automation on Cloud offering for new subscription requests.

Associate your jobs and job streams to folders to:
  • Organize them geographically so you can monitor them by location.
  • Organize them according to a specific line of business to keep an eye on the progress of your lines of business.
  • Keep your lines of business up and running by performing easy problem determination on jobs and job streams associated to specific business processes.
  • Manage security at a macro level by defining user or group access on the folder rather on jobs and job streams.
  • Filter for jobs and job streams by their folder
  • Avoid using complicated job and job stream names with maximum character limitations.
You can create workflow folders with different levels of authorization that define the set of actions that users or groups can perform on the jobs and job streams defined in each folder. More than one folder can be associated to the same Access Control List (ACL), and the level of security is also applied to the sub-folders. Each ACL assigns security roles to users or groups in a specific security domain or folder.
